BAYCAT opened in October of 2004. As we turn 10 Years Bold in 2014, we are reaching out to our community to celebrate with us!
BAYCAT is launching a worldwide campaign to ask supporters to Throw Us a Party with a Purpose to celebrate our last 10 years of successes and to create 1,000 digital media pros in the next 10 years.
One exemplary Party with a Purpose is being hosted by our partners and friends at The Box Scene Project, a nonprofit that works to reach equal media representation for the LGBT community, women, people of color, people with disabilities, and those that live at the intersection of those identities.
Their event, Spotlight on Diversity: A Conversation & Celebration of LGBT Media Representation, is a fundraiser celebrating BAYCAT’s 10 Years Bold Anniversary and launching The Box Scene Project’s Mirror Scholarship – a monetary award to facilitate the entrance of diverse and underrepresented individuals into the media and arts.
This star-studded event will feature an hour-long panel & Q&A with some of the most talented LGBT actors, creators, and activists. Also, kick-ass mom and LGBT activist, Amelia, from Huffpost Gay Voices is this year’s recipient of The Box Scene Project’s Citizen Spotlight Award! The panel & award ceremony will be followed by musical performances from talented LGBT artists. Get your tickets now, because this is a celebration you won’t want to miss!
Proceeds from the event will support both BAYCAT and The Box Scene Project as well as their important Mirror Scholarship that connects with BAYCAT’s mission, which supports diverse young media producers to go to college.
